Customised table legs for customised tables

Form and function in perfect harmony

TABLE LEGS & FRAMES

Table legs

Table frames should do one thing above all: support a table top in a stable and wobble-free manner. The size and proportions of the table top must be taken into account when selecting the table frame.

‌When you enter the dining room or kitchen, the first thing you usually look at is the table. The table is a central component. Whether a small or a large table, the table top is supported by a table frame. The Big Table Studio offers a wide range of attractive legs / frames to enhance the table even more.

Material

When choosing the material, make sure that the frame harmonises with the table top. In addition to wooden table legs, various materials such as steel or acrylic glass are available to create the perfect legs for the table.

FRAME SHAPES

The frames differ not only in their appearance, but also in their various benefits and uses.

X-frames

Consist of two metal or wooden struts crossing in the centre to form an X shape

X-legs tubular steel

In industrial design

U-profile

Consists of two parallel metal struts that support the table top and a crossbar on the floor

U-shape square timber

Trapezoidal table frame

Is wider at the top and narrower at the bottom or vice versa. similar to a trapezoid

Cheek table legs made of acrylic glass

The cheek table was a particularly popular table model during the Italian Renaissance and quickly found its way into modern interior design. Thanks to its minimalist appearance, the cheek table is one of the most popular models today.

Flat steel table sides

Cross foot / metatarsus

These are popular table frame shapes, as they hardly interfere with the legs when seated. The cross leg starts from the centre and runs outwards at an angle with several struts, while the centre leg goes straight down. Legroom is certainly guaranteed with these models.

Skid flat steel

STEEL

Steel is more recyclable than almost any other material. By choosing steel table legs, you can also contribute to the sustainable use of resources. Steel is also a very robust material that can easily support heavy table tops made of solid wood.

The combination of a steel table frame with a wooden table top gives the table a natural yet modern touch and really comes into its own.

RAL COATING OFFERS COLOUR VARIETY & PROTECTION

A RAL paint finish makes it possible to design the metal table frame in different colours. RAL colours are standardised, which means. The colours therefore do not differ from manufacturer to manufacturer, but are subject to a uniform numerical code.

However, it is not only used for visual design, but also offers additional protection against corrosion and wear. This protects the metal from rusting and the table frame remains beautiful and functional for longer.

Powder coating is also recommended for outdoor areas. The powder coating is applied to the table frame using fine nozzles and then baked at a high temperature. This creates a hard-wearing exterior that is resistant to scratches, abrasion and chemical influences. The great advantage of this coating method is the evenness achieved by the special colouring method. The RAL powder-coated surface is also UV-resistant, so it does not fade even in direct sunlight. This type of colouring ensures long-lasting colour intensity and comprehensive corrosion protection, so that the table frame retains its quality even with intensive outdoor use.

ACRYLIC GLASS TABLE SIDES

The glass legs give the table an almost floating appearance. The modern, understated appearance of the glass sides is ideal for solid wood tops and harmonises with almost any wood.

Acrylic glass is a high-quality plastic alternative to real glass. Transparent, clear acrylic glass achieves almost the same light transmission as real glass. The artificial glass is very impact-resistant and scratch-proof. Glass breakage does not occur with acrylic glass. The surfaces are very easy to clean. Fingerprints and other marks can usually be removed by simply wiping over the surface.

Acrylic glass is significantly lighter than real glass, even in very thick versions. The acrylic glass is normally produced in a thickness of three centimetres and thus ensures the stability and sturdiness of the table.
